Road Department
Mission:
To facilitate the rapid, safe, and economical movement of people and goods in St. Clair Township.
Department Description:
Project set to complete for 2009 Villa Madero, Clinton Hills and West Blvd. These projects are all asphalts overlays covering about two miles total of roads. The cost for these repairs are $316, 575.00.
Actual work done by Township employees since June 1, 2009 to September 1, 2009:
- Concrete curbs 800 feet of new curbs
- Fix concrete streets 4,080 square feet
- Replacing culverts under road and in drive ways 210 feet
- Replacing and repairing drainage boxes on side of roads 5 boxes
For the rest of the year employes will continue to repair concrete curbs and street until weather permits. Then they will start ditching and replacing culverts until the ground freezes. After that they will start triming trees on road ways and sealing all concrete streets. Projected projects for 2010 - fix Bittersweet and Magnolia at the T road, plus an overlay in Weatherstone. Projected for 2011 - East Main Street at West Blvd. and a partical overlay in Weatherstone.
The road department purchased two major pieces of equipment this year. A small excavater for ditching and repalcing culverts and a tar machine to clean and seal all concrete streets to preserve them.
Township employees are now doing all their curb repair and any concrete street repairs and any existing roads in the Township to save money.
