Centennial Park is located at 300 North Belt East (Richland Creek and Route 161) in Swansea, IL. The area is a nature park with a one mile looped walking trail on both sides of the creek as well as an asphalt trail on the west side of the creek. It is a unique urban forest featuring lots of wildlife. Individual covered picnic tables are available off the parking lot area. A restroom is located next to the parking lot. This park is connected to the St. Clair County Transit District bike trail.
The park has a picturesque bridge and gazebo. The gazebo was just added in 2022. It’s a hotspot for photography including senior pictures, weddings and more.
It is also home to the Richard L. Schobert Nature Play Ground featuring a large boulder to climb on, a log balance beam, a crawl thru log and more!
We have interpretive signage along the trail to describe the animals, trees and history of the park.
